Please join us in welcoming Sarah Loughery to Music for All!

Music for All has named Sarah Loughery Controller of the organization, based in its downtown Indianapolis headquarters.

As Controller, Loughery is responsible for the oversight and management of all finance and accounting functions, ensuring proper procedures and systems are in place to support effective planning, program implementation, audits, and internal controls that directly support Music for All’s programming.

“We are delighted to add Sarah to the Finance team at Music for All,” said Nancy Carlson, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “She has exactly the combination of experience and knowledge of accounting that we need, as Music for All continues to expand our programs.”

Loughery is a Certified Public Accountant with a corporate accounting background spanning over 20 years. She has held positions such as Senior Controller, Controller, and Accounting Manager at the following organizations: mAccounting, Elements Financial Federal Credit Union (formerly Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union), MS Inspection & Logistics Inc., Milestone Advisors (currently mAccounting), and Mutual Hospital Services Inc. Loughery received her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Indiana University.

Music for All has added the Music Production Boot Camp to the Music for All Summer Symposium starting this year. The Music for All Summer Symposium, presented by Yamaha, is the largest national weeklong summer music camp for students and teachers. The 43rd annual Symposium will take place at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana from June 25-June 30 at Ball State University.

The Music for All Music Production Boot Camp curriculum is an immersive music production experience for high school students. Participants will study with award-winning recording engineers and producers in a state-of-the art facility. The Production Boot Camp experience is total immersive, hands-on production experience. Students get the opportunity to work with professional musicians and recording engineers as they record, mix, and master a production, as well as learn the music theory and hone in on their songwriting skills.

The Music Production division has a superb faculty that includes Chuck Ainlay – award-winning music producer, Yamaha Artist, and recording engineer-in-residence – and Dr. Christoph Nils Thompson, Division Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Music Media Production at Ball State University.

“At the Music Production Boot Camp, expert instruction meets state of the art technology,” says Dr. Christoph Nils Thompson, Division Coordinator. “This is a great opportunity for high school students with a strong interest in music production to totally immerse themselves for a week in the production process. All the strengths of the instructors and the facilities will come together for this division. As the director of the music production program at Ball State University, I am very excited to extend our knowledge and facilities to high school students. This brand new division is ideal to give students the boost they need to reach the next level in their production skills, regardless of style or area of expertise.”

More than 1,400 high school and middle school band and orchestra students and 300 high school and middle school band directors are expected at this year’s Symposium.

The Symposium brings together student musicians and educators from across the country. Students learn from top music educators in divisions that include concert band, marching band, jazz band, orchestra, percussion, color guard, drum major, peer teaching, and in its third year, the middle school concert band camp. High school and middle school band directors and instructors can choose from several educators’ tracks that hone their professional skills. Student leadership training is a theme that runs throughout all divisions of the Symposium.

Please join us in congratulating Mark Sternberg on his recent promotion to Events Manager!

Sternberg has been a part of the Music for All events team since 2013, first as an Events Coordinator, and most recently Senior Events Coordinator. Prior to joining the Music for All staff, he was a band director and music teacher in central Indiana for 10 years.

The Event Manager is a key management level position within Music for All’s Events Department. The Events Department at Music for All organizes and executes the events that provide access to scholastic music education and positively life-changing experiences for thousands of middle school and high school students across the nation. The Event Manager reports to the Director of Events, overseeing the operations of each event Music for All coordinates.

“We’re excited to promote Mark and to have him take on this important role at Music for All,” said Laura Blake, Music for All’s Director of Events. “Mark is a driving force in our department. He is a visionary and innovator who lives our mission. I look forward to working with him as he continues to make a positive impact on scholastic music-making”

Mark Sternberg is a graduate of the Music Education program at Butler University, and also earned his Masters in Music Education from Butler.

Dr. Jeremy L. Earnhart will join Music for All as Chief Operating Officer in January 2018. As COO, Dr. Earnhart will be a member of Music for All’s executive leadership team and oversee Music for All’s programs and events and their implementation by its 30 full and part-time employees.

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Music for All, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 educational organization that annually presents more than 30 scholastic music and arts education programs and events across America and is a voice advocating for student participation and access to music and arts education.

Dr. Earnhart has been the Director of Fine Arts for the Arlington (Texas) Independent School District (AISD) since 2013. Educating over 63,000 students, AISD provides world-class musical, visual, and kinesthetic arts programs. From 2009-2013 he was Director of Fine Arts for the Irving ISD, Texas, where student participation in secondary fine arts increased by over 40%.

Dr. Earnhart has a long association with Music for All, scholastic music teaching, and administration. He is a member of Music for All’s Board of Directors, and has adjudicated numerous Music for All/Bands of America programs and events.

Dr. Earnhart was director of the 2007 Bands of America Grand National Champion and 2004 UIL Texas State Champion L.D. Bell High School Band, and served on L.D. Bell’s faculty from 1998-2009. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music Education, holds certifications in International Baccalaureate Music, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.

“Dr. Earnhart is a respected music professional and experienced educator, whose belief in and support of Music for All has been invaluable,” says Gayl Doster, Chairman of the Board of Music for All. “His successes as an administrator during his tenure with Arlington ISD bring his expertise in advocating for music and arts education to Music for All’s operations.”

“Jeremy will bring unprecedented skills and value to Music for All,” added Eric Martin, Music for All’s President and CEO, “supporting its mission in the design and operation of the programs and events that provide ‘positively life-changing’ experiences for our participants, model success, and advocate and advance the cause of scholastic music education and local, state, and national commitments.”

During Dr. Earnhart’s tenure with the AISD, it increased secondary performing arts participation by 22%, in part through passing a historic $663.1 million bond package which led with Fine Arts initiatives including building a District-wide Fine Arts Center, establishing two Fine Arts & Dual Language Elementary Academies, creating acoustically appropriate strings classrooms for all 54 elementary schools, and allocation of $9.8 million for instruments and uniforms to remove barriers and promote student access. In addition to creation of the Arts & Language Academies, Dr. Earnhart led District efforts supporting student success including establishing a partnership with the University of North Texas for Dual Credit Music and creation of the nation's first public/private partnership course in Musical Instrument Repair with Music & Arts. With the Arlington High School Orchestra, AISD also began the first Texas chapter of United Sound, providing musical performance experiences through peer mentorship for students with special needs, a program sponsored and supported by Music for All.

Raised on New York’s Long Island – son of a band director and special education teacher – Dr. Earnhart has always been immersed in music and education. Skills developed as an all-state trumpet player led to study at the University of North Texas with Dr. Leonard Candelaria and performance in top concert ensembles under Eugene Corporon and Dennis Fisher, and the 2 o’clock Lab Band under James Riggs. Teaching private lessons at L.D. Bell H.S. led to band directing, to Bands of America, and being named the Texas Outstanding Young Bandmaster by Phi Beta Mu, the International Bandmasters Fraternity. Dr. Earnhart will relocate to Indiana with his wife Gwendolyn, an elementary music teacher, and their daughter Kierstyn.
