Anthony J. Maiello has been a part of the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival and the MFA orchestral programs since their inception in 1992 and 2005 respectively. Mr. Maiello was an evaluator at the first Bands of America National Concert Band Festival and conductor of the Honor Band of America in 1996, and he has since been instrumental in the creation of MFA’s orchestral programming. He was conductor at the first MFA Summer Symposium student orchestra division, an evaluator and clinician at all of the Orchestra America National Festivals and conducted the Honor Orchestra of America in March in Indianapolis.
He is presently Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Studies at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, where he conducts the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony and teaches several conducting courses. Mr. Maiello also has served as Associate Conductor of The McLean Orchestra, McLean, Virginia; has been appointed an Honorary Conductor of The United States Navy Band, Washington, D.C., and is presently the conductor of the American Festival Pops Orchestra.
