Music for All Joins with GRAMMY Award Winner Tom Chapin to promote new song "Not on the Test" and to Sound the Alarm for Music Education
In celebration of Music and Arts in Our Schools Month, Music for All has joined with GRAMMY Award-winner Tom Chapin to support the launch and nationwide distribution of the "Not on the Test" song and video.
The song will raise awareness about the importance of music education in all classrooms and express concern about what is missing from American public education.
As a kid who grew up in New York City, Tom Chapin is a great fan of America's public education.
"It was the music and arts programs that kept me in school.
These enrichment courses that make the experience for both teachers and students more rewarding are the very ones that are being cut from curriculums across the country," he said.

2007 Grand Nationals DVDs Shipping is Imminent
Bands of America 2007 Grand National Championship DVDs are expected to ship starting Monday, March 24.
The production process includes the administration of copyright compliance and securing all necessary permissions with copyright holders.
This can be one of the lengthiest parts of the production process.
You can still order Grand National DVDs and see some of the finest marching bands in the country!
The 2007 Grand National DVDs include judges recaps and scores for finals.

Congratulations to the 2008 Music for All National Festival Participants
The Music for All National Festival presented by Yamaha, featured performances by 18 concert bands, seven percussion ensembles and three orchestras, Feb. 28 through March 1 in Indianapolis.
The Festival also featured three national honor ensembles: the Jazz Band of America, conducted by Shelly Berg, with guest artists Phil Woods and Patti Austin; the Honor Band of America, conducted by Gary Green, featuring a jazz trio with Shelly Berg; and the Honor Orchestra of America, conducted by Larry J. Livingston, with violinist Barnabás Kelemen, performing two shared concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

The June 16 ensemble application deadline for the Music for All National Festival allows band, orchestra and percussion ensemble directors to plan now for the best-possible audition recording at spring festivals and concerts.
The Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana is a showcase for the nation's finest concert bands, orchestras and percussion ensembles.
The non-competitive atmosphere provides a place for growth, cooperative encouragement and mutual respect among programs, students, parents, boosters and administrators.
Plan now to apply for this amazing experience.
2009 Honor Ensemble Conductors Announced
Gary W. Hill, Arizona State University, will conduct the 2009 Honor Band of America and Larry J. Livingston will return to conduct the 2009 Honor Orchestra of America.

New for 2009: Middle School National Music Festival
Concert bands, orchestras and percussion ensembles may apply
Application Deadline: June 16, 2008
2009 marks the premiere of the Middle School National Music Festival, part of the Music for All National Festival, presented by Yamaha.
The middle school ensemble festival will be Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, 2009, in Indianapolis.
The Festival Opening Session will be Thursday evening.
The past two years, Music for All has invited several middle school concert bands to participate in the Festival as honor bands.
In 2009, the Festival will feature a middle school stage for invited concert bands, percussion ensembles and orchestras, selected by recorded audition and application.

Music Supporting Music: Concerts to support Indianapolis public school music programs
Music for All in conjunction with 92.3 WTTS in Indianapolis have partnered for the 6th year to raise awareness and donations for local school music programs.
Band Together is an initiative that provides scholarships for Indianapolis Public Schools music students to attend the Music for All Summer Symposium.
Since its inception, Band Together has provided 223 full-tuition Summer Symposium scholarships to attend this national week-long music camp held at Illinois State University.
The Band Together Concert Series includes The BoDeans, April 11 at The Vogue and Newton Faulkner, April 22 at The Music Mill.
Proceeds from the concerts will benefit Band Together scholarships.

Yamaha Young Performing Artists application deadline extended for Music for All Participants
The Yamaha Young Performing Artists Program (YYPA) has extended the deadline for Music for All Participants to March 20.
The deadline for entry is March 15, but Music for All students are encouraged to audition.
YYPA recognizes outstanding young musicians from the world of classical, jazz and contemporary music.
Winners of this competition will be invited to attend an all-expense paid weekend awards ceremony at the Music for All Summer Symposium, receive a once in a lifetime performance opportunity in front of thousands of students with national press coverage, receive a recording and photos of the live performance, and participate in professional workshops and clinics designed to launch a professional music career.
All application materials must be postmarked by 12:00 midnight, March 20, 2008.
Winners will be announced on or around April 15, 2008.
