Should your district be recognized as a Best Community for Music Education?
Music for All is once again joining with the NAMM Foundation and leading advisor organizations searching for communities that support music education and include music education offerings as part of a complete education for all students.
Music for All is proud to play a part in this important national recognition effort, and we encourage you to participate in it as well by completing the ninth annual Best Communities for Music Education in America (BCME) survey.
To participate, visit the NAMM Foundation on the Web now through March 3, 2008 to review and complete an online survey form on behalf of your community.
If you prefer, you can forward this message to a school administrator or other local educator who has more of the data close at hand.
Over the years, school districts have reported that being designated a "Best Community for Music Education" helped them gain valuable recognition for their communities that in turn aided their efforts to sustain and grow their music education programs.
We encourage you to participate now on behalf of your community.

What you should be thinking of now for Fall:
Copyright permissions
Next fall's marching band show might be the furthest thing from your mind now, but don't forget to start thinking about securing your copyright permissions early.
Before you settle on a fall marching band show, be sure to research:
- Will the publisher/composer allow special arrangements to be made?
- What is the cost?
- Who do you need to contact to secure copyright permissions?
- When do you need to send in your request in order to secure permission in a timely fashion?
Everyone is required by law to secure permission before having special arrangements made of a non-public domain piece of music.
Don't plan your show only to find out that you cannot get permissions for your choices!
For assistance with securing copyright permissions, you can contact the Music for All copyright service.
