Robinson, Morrison: Music for All Tag Team at TMEA

As part of Music for All's ongoing commitment to advancing music and arts education, the organization co-sponsored the two featured Keynote Addresses at the 2007 TMEA conference in San Antonio Texas.

2007 TMEA Left to Right: Scott McCormick, Cam Stasa, Bob Floyd, Sir Ken Robinson, Beth Doctor, Dean Westman, Robert Morrison and Frank Coachman.

Sir Ken Robinson, world-renowned expert on innovation and creativity and Music for All Advisory Board Member, presented the first Keynote Address at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Friday February 16. The focus of his presentation was "How Creativity, Education and the Arts Shape the Modern Economy," exploring his thinking on the central role music and arts education must take in order for our nation to succeed in the global battle of ideas. Many of the ideas he shared are outlined in his book Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative, which he signed at the Music for All TMEA booth.

Music for All's Bob Morrison followed up with the second Keynote Address at Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Saturday, February 17th with his view of the "state of the arts" in the presentation "NEW RULES! For Music and Arts Education." Bob built on Sir Ken's remarks to outline how global dynamics will shape the future of music and arts education in the United States and empowered attendees with tools and information to become effective advocates for their own programs.

Both presentations were generously sponsored by the Texas Music Educators Association, Yamaha Band and Orchestral Division and Music for All. You can access materials, resources and tools that were part of the TMEA Keynote Presentations online.
