Music for All Summer Symposium presented by YAMAHA
Yamaha Young Performing Artists

Monday, June 23, 2008
Braden Auditorium, ISU, Normal, IL

The Yamaha Young Performing Artists (YYPA) program is designed to provide early career recognition for outstanding young musicians in the United States. Hundreds of applicants ages 16-21 apply annually and undergo a rigorous taped audition process for a panel of national celebrity musicians. Annual winners joined a total of over 100 other winners since the program's inception in 1989. Many winners have received scholarships to prestigious universities and conservatories, or are playing professionally with major jazz groups and top symphony orchestras.

The YYPA national awards concert kicks off the Summer Symposium. Winners are guests of Yamaha for a weekend of rehearsals, master classes, special awards concerts and social events, culminating with the opportunity to perform for thousands of students at the Symposium.

The overall winner (chosen at the Summer Symposium) will receive $5,000 in retail credit towards a professional model Yamaha instrument and an opportunity for a New York City performance debut at Yamaha Artist Service, Inc.
