Frank Crockett

Frank Crockett has been leading and facilitating leadership and team building experiences for over 20 years. Frank has a background in Education with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. He is a Certified Ropes course facilitator and has been for over 20 years. Frank uses an experiential approach for his presentations allowing people to work through challenges that are presented. Following each exercise the group then debriefs the experience to capture learning in the "here and now" and "metaphorically" helping people relate the learning back to where they are coming from. Frank has worked with hundreds of school groups, teaching staff, sports teams and focus groups. He has worked with large companies and organizations providing leadership workshops and team building experiences. Frank currently is a full time pastor at SouthBrook Christian Church in Dayton, Ohio.
Gus Denzik

Gus Denzik has been in the challenge course industry since 1985. He has been a facilitator of experiential programming on every level from school programs to the corporate world. He has collaborated with numerous consultants and other professionals to produce dynamic programs that facilitate elements of change for personal and professional growth. He was the founder and owner of Experiential Resources, a full service building, training and inspection provider. That company continues to be a leader in the industry today. He has built over 200 challenge course programs world wide and provided programming with some 12,000+ people in his career. He continues to be consulted in matters of construction and training while being the full time director of programming at Butler Springs Christian Camp and Retreat Center.
Frank DiLallo

Frank A. DiLallo is currently the Safe & Drug Free Schools Consultant for Catholic Youth and School Services in the Diocese of Toledo, serving 90 schools k-12, in nineteen counties of Northwest Ohio. Mr. DiLallo received his B.A. degree in Sociology in 1980 from Adrian College and a Masters degree in Guidance & Counseling from the University of Toledo in 1982. For over twenty-three years he has counseled individuals, couples and families. Mr. DiLallo enjoys his family, hiking in nature and staying fit. He has competed in at least two triathlons a summer for the last six years. Mr. DiLallo is married and has three sons, Josh, Andrew and David and a daughter, Joy.
Fran Kick

Fran Kick, educational consultant, author and certified speaking professional, is the creator and presenter of KICK IT IN, a series of self-motivational personal leadership presentations and materials. Since taking an educational leave of absence from teaching band at Centerville High School (Ohio), he has developed his part time speaking adventure into a full time mission. Today, Fran presents over one hundred programs every year across the country to thousands of college/university, high school, junior high/middle school students, plus the many people who work with them. Fran speaks at numerous state, regional & national conferences and has consulted with numerous schools, organizations & companies actively engaged in the learning process. From fifth grade students to Fortune 500 professionals, Fran Kick always KICKs IT IN!
Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser

Speaker, author, guest conductor, educator - Tim Lautzenheiser is a beloved teacher and motivator in the area of music education and leadership training. His experience as a band director includes work at Northern Michigan University, University of Missouri and New Mexico State University. Tim served as executive director of Bands of America 1982-83 before founding Attitude Concepts for Today, dedicated to development of personal potential. Tim has authored books including "The Art of Successful Teaching" and co-authored Hal Leonard's "Essential Elements" band method.
Norm Logan

Norman A. Logan is retired after 34 years as an Instrumental Music teacher. Mr. Logan was the Director of Instrumental Music at Farmington High School in Michigan where he taught band, orchestra, marching band, jazz and auditorium technology. His previous teaching experience includes, Taylor Public Schools, Wayne-Westland Public Schools at John Glenn High School and guest lecturer and instructor for Band Methods and Band Arranging at Eastern Michigan University. Norm was honored as the City of Wayne's Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator Award, Teacher of the Year at John Glenn High School in Westland Michigan, Honorable Mention in USA Today "All-USA Teacher Teams 1999," Michigan School Band and Orchestra District 4 Band Teacher of the Year and placement in the Farmington Public School Teacher Hall of Fame. Mr. Logan has been working with the Summer Symposium for over 25 years.
Matt Savage

Matt Savage, graduate of the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York and The University of Southern California, has taught at every level of public education from elementary to the college level. Along with teaching in public education, Matt also has twenty-five years of playing and teaching experience in the marching percussion field. This experience includes playing snare drum with the legendary Bayonne Bridgemen and serving as percussion director and arranger for drum and bugle corps such as the Anaheim Velvet Knights, The Dutchboy of Kitchener, Ontario and the Canton Bluecoats. At the collegiate level, Matt has served as percussion instructor for the USC Trojan Marching Band and is currently director of percussion at The University of North Carolina where he served as Assistant Director of University Bands.
Buzz Sutherland

Buzz Sutherland is a man who is sincerely and seriously committed to entertaining audiences with humor that is 100% clean and 200% funny. Buzz has been at the very top of the college comedy world for the past 7 years winning Comedian of the Year honors a record 16 times. He was named Conference Comedian of the Year by the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) for the last five years the award was given. In addition, he was named overall Entertainer of the Year by NACA the final year of the awards. The Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) has named him Comedian of the Year four times and overall Performer of the Year twice. Most recently, the readers of Campus Activities Magazine voted Buzz their Comedian of the Year for 2006. Described by students and entertainers alike as "one of the finest entertainers in the business," his quick wit, unmatched charisma, and ability to work clean have taken Buzz to the very top of the college comedy world! Buzz has performed on HBO's Comic Relief and MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour.
Frank Troyka

Frank Troyka has been teaching for over 20 years and is currently at Berkner H.S. in Richardson, Texas. He began his career in 1984 in the Richardson ISD at Forest Meadow Junior High School. Four years later he accepted a position at Lake Highlands High School as the Assistant Band Director to Malcolm Helm. From 1991-1996, Frank was the Assistant Band Director at Westfield High School in the Spring ISD after which he served as the Director of Events for Bands of America. Frank is active as a lecturer and clinician throughout Texas and the United States. He is a perennial faculty member at the Leadership Weekend Experience. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Frank graduated from Sturgis High School (Michigan) in 1977 and began his college career at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. At the age of 19 he moved to Dallas to finish his degree at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Jamie Weaver

Jamie Weaver is the founder and Director of Front and Center Motivational Company, who speaks to over 20,000 students, teachers, and administrators each year. He holds his music education degree from the University of Kentucky and has been with the Summer Symposium since 1991. Currenty, he is Director of Bands at Creek Valley Middle School in Lewisville, Texas.
Team SWAG

Team SWAG is a volunteer group of dedicated college students, graduate students, band directors, and others interested in music education. Team SWAG's mission is to ensure that everyone associated with the Symposium has a positive experience and an opportunity to grow as a person. Team SWAG plays a major role in the Summer Symposium, serving as counselors, staff assistants, and role models to the 1,600 student participants.
