About the Orchestra America National Festival
The Orchestra America National Festival is a non-competitive national festival held in cooperation with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for outstanding high school full and string orchestras. Concerts are held in Hilbert Circle Theatre, home of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Orchestra America offers world-class educational and performance opportunities for school orchestra programs.
Festival Highlights
The first Honor Orchestra of America debuted Mar. 12, 2005 when they shared a concert with the Honor Band of America. In 2006, Orchestra America debuted the Orchestra America National Festival, inviting six outstanding full and string high school orchestras in the first year. The Orchestra America National Festival is patterned after the successful National Concert Band Festival.

The Festival shines a national spotlight on scholastic orchestras. It is a celebration of musical excellence that combines world-class performance and evaluation opportunities with an exhilarating atmosphere of camaraderie in music.

Highlights for invited orchestras, selected by taped audition, include:
  • Evaluation and post-concert clinic by leading music educators
  • Master Classes led by professional orchestra members and leading applied faculty
  • Gala Awards Banquet
  • Required audience time guarantees a knowledgeable, enthusiastic audience for all ensemble concerts
  • Held at the home of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, The Hilbert Circle Theatre
