Well, the inaugural season is almost over. I'd like to thank BOA and the ICVA for the unforgettable memories this past summer! On to Los Angeles!

Ok, my first blog... I know what you're thinking. It took me forever, I know.
We've been here for three months and I can barely believe it. Emily, my dear roommate, left the other day. She is on her way back to South Carolina to start her teaching career.
I miss her way too much to function normally at this point. :) Think about seeing the same person every day, 24 hours a day and then suddenly they're gone! Anywho, gigs are slowing up a little. We played the national anthem at an Indianapolis Indians game today and now we have some down time.
I'm addicted to the Food Network and the Style channel, so you can probably guess what I'm doing right now. This summer has been great so far, but I miss playing in ensembles at home... winds, jazz... I miss New Mexico, the mountains, weather... Go Aggies!

It's August! Time really does fly when you're having fun. It's hard to believe that in less than three weeks we will all be splitting ways and returning to our colleges. We've so far mentioned gigs, so here's a little day in the life.
We have four people to a two bedroom apartment. So that means that I share a room with Kurtis Decker. Most mornings I volunteer to shower first which means I have to get up about an hour before we leave. (that was 7:15) Today we're going to Garfield and Christian Park to teach lessons, but I am going to practice audition music at the BOA office and move our equipment out of the rental truck and back into the BOA truck. Then it's back to the apartment for lunch (around 1). Then the "afternoon" is free. At 4:15 we're all leaving for a 6:00 gig at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I'll get back at 8:00, and sit around watching TV and eating veggies and homemade dip (Jon's secret family recipe). He made two pounds, last night, and it's mostly gone.
If you're in Indy and haven't seen INergy yet, come check us out! If you already saw us, come again or grab a CD from BOA's online store!

I have really enjoyed my time in INergy. On Sunday we played at the Indianapolis Zoo and had a great audience. There were a lot of little kids dancing and Ellen was running around with them. There are only 4 weeks left of this summer internship and the Indiana State Fair is coming up fast and so is our trip to Los Angeles. I am super excited. Till next time.

Well, I was right about the Summer Symposium. If you are a performer, what better audience could you ask for! Even better than that were the incredible clinicians! Talk about a positively life-changing experience!

We've been gigging pretty much everyday here in Indy. The Summer Symposium will be loads of fun, and hopefully some much needed rehearsal time (I know I want to learn more charts). When you see us at camp, come say hi :)
I hope the rain lets off for tonight's downtown stroll

Last night's rehearsal was cool and unique. Doug May, former Disney performance director, came in to do a clinic with us on performance and stage presence. We now have a story to go along with our music, so you really will want to come out and see us. Look forward to seeing everyone at Monument Circle downtown today for the Strawberry Fest!

P.S. A special shout out to Cam Stasa, Director of Participant Relations, for taking us all out for Chinese last night! We love you Cam! And how can we forget to thank Bands of America and the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association for all you guys do. Thanks a million!

The group has named me the official blogger, so I guess I better keep up with what's going on here :) Yesterday was really great. We got to meet and get a picture taken with the first lady, Laura Bush. We then played for the closing ceremony of the Helping America's Youth Conference. Today we played a concert by the outfield of the Indianapolis Indians stadium as part of Indiana Tourism Day. We are getting ready to leave for our awesome indoor rehearsal barn to have some rehearsal time to prepare for our CD recording session on Monday. Stay tuned for more updates and check out our website for a current performance schedule.

I have been enjoying every moment of being in the INergy band. Each cast member has brought their unique personality and talent to the group. I especially like working with the Indianapolis Public Schools. It is giving me great experience teaching others instruments that aren't my own focus. I also enjoy performing at the Children's Museum, the Indiana State Museum and for the 20th anniversary of the movie, "Hoosiers."

Yea low brass! Since all the posts are low brass players thus far we get a gold star! I agree that I had a great time at the Indiana Special Olympics in Terre Haute.
I think that the time between performances at the Children's Museum is my favorite. For me, nothing beats the grin on each kid's face after they get to "play the tuba" (push the buttons while I buzz)
I love you mom and dad!

I had a great time at the Indiana Special Olympics gig today! It was so much fun!! Ha...we should perform for 5,000 plus people more often.
